Grey & White

With all the travelling recently, it was nice to have no plans or to-do lists to check off. Just a lazy morning followed by some good food and mooching about enjoying the peace and quiet. I love casual days where you can throw on some jeans and a tee shirt, clean edges and minimal detailing are the key. I tend to sway towards menswear collections for their simplicity, and jersey's are no exception. This top from All Saints is just the right amount of oversized and baggy, being quite petite I like to tuck in one side of the top, adding an asymmetrical element to the look.
These nude rockstud sandals are the make or break aspect of the outfit, with such a casual attire I wanted to make things more interesting in the shoe department. I love how the studs are the same tone as the leather on the shoe, adding dimension to the visuals without being too much of a distraction. With a low chunky heel, these shoes were great to walk around in all day - comfort first!

All black, Double Whammy!

When you aren’t feeling your best, it helps to ‘dress-up’, it doesn’t have to be anything overly fancy. I find that wearing one-colour outfits makes one appear well groomed and put together. Black was the obvious choice, given my mood…

I woke up this morning and had an eye infection; in my life I have never had one, as they say there’s a first for everything. Thankfully I was able to see a doctor last minute and was prescribed some eye drops.

I am a huge Disney lover and have enjoyed the film adaptations of all the classics in recent years, thankfully I have a 4 year old cousin who is Cinderella obsessed to accompany me, it was her first cinema experience and she talked about it non-stop in the days leading up to it (◕‿◕)

I enjoyed the movie a lot and was captivated by the beautiful costume designs, Lily James was a perfect to play the role of Cinderella, my favourite quote is ‘have courage and be kind’, inspiring words at any age.

Near the end of the movie my eye-lid was itching like crazy and I figured it was probably just the infection irritating the skin as well. However when we came out the screen I noticed my eyelid was red and swollen, tell-tale signs of a mosquito bite...of all the places.

Tomorrow is a new day!

Sleeping in the sun...

After the day of trekking around Singapore I decided to unwind and lounge in the sun before my flight back to Hong Kong. My current favourite bikini is this one from Topshop, these are my essentials for sunbathing. Stay protected with lots of SPF, for my face I use Kheil’s Ultra Light Daily Defense, it’s SPF 50 but is a light weight texture that doesn’t clog up my pores, a critical factor for all the products I use on my face due to my sensitive skin. It is slightly on the pricier scale of sun protection, but a little goes a long way and it is a worthy beauty-buy. Staying hydrated is essential, I find that water doesn’t do the job when I’m under the sun and my all time favourite is coconut water, fresh is obviously always best but not always readily available, carton is a good substitute and there are some brands that have managed to preserve the coconut water raw, which is the best form to consume.

The apartment I stayed in was beautifully furnished and the facilities were amazing. I love open spaces with lots of natural light!

Singapore!

Orchard Road is a 2.2 kilometre-long boulevard that is the retail and entertainment hub of Singapore. I only had a short amount of time here so made it a shopping trip. I may have gotten carried away and didn't take as many pictures as I wanted, I look forward to going back with more time to explore this beautiful city.

Petronas Twin Towers

Today we explored Kuala Lumper City Centre, the first thing I noticed is that Malaysia has a lot of shopping centres, and they’re all huge, you could have a day out at a mall if you wanted. Whilst waiting for our slot to tour the Petronas Twin Towers we enjoyed all that Suria KLCC Mall had to offer and relaxed in the sunshine in the outdoor gardens. It was also my last day in Malaysia and I had the best chicken wings of my life for dinner!

Thean Hou Temple

I was born and raised a Buddhist, so I was eager to explore this temple. My friend said the readings here are very accurate so I decided to give it a try. Their methods are slightly different to what I have known in the past, there are sticks with numbers inscribed on each one situated in a large ornate ‘pot’; you pick them all up and ask what it is you wish to find out then you drop them, the stick left standing is the answer to your question. The number corresponds to the pull out drawers below and has paper slips inside. In the past my answers have been vague and needed interpretation however the reading I received was scarily accurate and tackled my question head on. I don’t wish to jinx myself so I won’t share with you guys, all I can say is that I look forward to the future, as always.

Batu Caves

Batu Caves was an amazing experience, with it being a religious attraction shorts and skirts are not permitted; you can either ‘rent’ a cover up or purchase one from the small stall situated at the base of the stores.

The climb to the top is relatively steep, combined with the sun beaming down on you doesn’t make it an easy feat. When you reach the top however, you’re welcomed with a breath-taking view of the caves, it's worth it.

Other than being a popular tourist attraction, Batu Caves is one of the most popular Hindu Shrines located outside of India. It was fascinating seeing many people climb the stairs barefoot and I loved the saris! The colours were so vivid and bright and had beautifully intricate patterns flowing throughout the material.

I loved how the sun beams were bouncing off the limestone walls casting different shades and colours all over the place, it was a truly beautiful experience.

'Smart Casual'

How often when you get invited to meals and celebrations etc. do you get told oh it's 'smart casual'. Sometimes it's great for a dress-code to be so broad and open to interpretation, however at times it can be really frustrating as well. You don't want to overdress, nor do you want to look like you haven't made any effort and offend the host, it's a pickle! My personal favourite when confronted with these situations is to wear a plain baggy tee and jeans, casual right? But the moment you pair it with some heels and throw on a blazer you instantly look more sophisticated and put together. This is a fool-proof combination that is a instant go-to for me. If you like to be bold with your style, you can always adjust this to your preference by playing with the colour charts. As this outfit was something I had to be in all day, I needed it to be transitional from day to night, so I stuck with all black with a pop of colour from the khaki tee.
